The Ngorongoro Crater – a UNESCO World Heritage Safari

Twende Tanzania Safari

The Ngorongoro crater is the absolute highlight of the visit to the Ngorongoro nature reserve. On the crater rim – 2250 metres above sea level – you will look into the wide, 600-metre-deep bottom: a nature paradise. Yes, a Garden of Eden!

Countless animal species roam through this fertile land. During the migration, a million wildebeests come here from December to July to have their calves. Other animal species – lions, elephants, zebras and countless bird species – live here year round. About forty black rhinoceros are also back again, no longer hunted by poachers.

Not far from the Ngorongoro crater is Olduvai Gorge. Here is where the earliest hominin skull was found in 1959: Paranthropus boisei. This is why the region is called “the cradle of mankind.”

Twende Tanzania would be pleased to show you the most extraordinary sites.
