Mount Meru Game Lodge

Mount Meru Game Lodge, founded in 1959, is one of the oldest lodges in Tanzania. Among the adventure-seeking guests it has hosted have been presidents and members of European royalty. And with its colonial and stylish charm, it has long been a firm favourite for Tanzanian hospitality.

In addition to the reception area, the main lodge building also houses a lounge and a bar. With its huge panoramic windows, comfortable seating and a fireplace, the lounge is the perfect place to relax and observe the surroundings. Meanwhile, the bar promises welcome refreshment with its good selection of international and local drinks.

From the restaurant’s large terrace, you can enjoy the beautiful gardens in the pleasant shade of huge old mango trees. There is also a small pool a little further back for guests who enjoy swimming.

You can spend the night at Mount Meru Game Lodge in one of the 17 detached rooms. They are all different, but always elegantly and comfortably furnished. Most of them have their own verandas with views of the greenery or the neighbouring game reserve. This is undoubtedly a highlight of the lodge. Wild animals can sometimes be spotted at breakfast: zebras, ostriches, waterbucks and monkeys, including blue monkeys and the rare colobus monkeys.

Above all, its central location makes Mount Meru Game Lodge the perfect starting point for travelling in northern Tanzania, for example to Tarangire National Park, the Serengeti or the Ngorongoro Crater. The gateway to Arusha National Park is also just a few minutes’ drive away.
